Jensen Interceptor gets some Viper power

For ten years there was a hand-built sporting GT-class car that put smiles on a lot of people’s faces. This grand tourer was the Jensen Interceptor designed by Carrozzeria Touring of Italy and produced by Jensen Motors in the United Kingdom. From 1966-1976, 6,408 vehicles were produced with the choice of either a 6.3-liter or a 7.2-liter V8 engine. In today’s terms, the power found under the hood of the Interceptor wouldn’t exactly be impressive, but Brook Anderson of the UK has devised a plan to change all that, and he called PistonHeads to let them know what it is.

In an effort to give the Interceptor the power it deserves, Anderson has decided to replace the old V8 with a Viper sourced 8.3-liter V10 engine. And to make sure the Interceptor can handle the 510 HP and 535 pound-feet of torque the V10 can bring, Anderson has also opted to put in a new suspension and larger brakes. Wider wheel arches will also find a home in the Interceptor in accordance with the sketch (shown above) done by Keith Anderson of the Jensen Owners Club. Apparently, this is "a vision of how a 21st-century Jensen could have looked."

When all is said and done, Anderson and his crew will have what Anderson is calling the Viperceptor. Right now, it is still in its developmental stages, but we’re excited to see the final project when it is complete. We’ll keep you posted.
